After studies in ecology and tourism development, followed by professional experience in event coordination, Sophie became a self-taught documentary filmmaker with a strong interest in sound work. Animal films were her school, but she quickly tried not to exclude the human in her subjects. After obtaining a Master's degree in Creative Documentary Filmmaking at IFFCAM, she continued her research on the anchoring of nature through portraiture.
