In my hometown, Arlit, situated in the North of Niger, Areva has been mining uranium since 1976. Nowadays, a good part of the region is contaminated. Radioactivity is invisible, and the population is not informed of all the risks involved.
During the year, heavy winds blow and cover up the whole city. These dusty winds spread radioactive substances. Everyone seeks shelter. The city calms down, and all activity stops. My father, who is retired from the uranium mines, is the main character of this film. He flutters through 35 years of souvenirs spent in these mines (quarries). Thanks to him I was able to meet former workers as well as a few new ones who certainly deserve their say in this.
